Lead Artist for inaugural Young People's Programme
Fruitmarket Gallery 2013 - 2014
ArtWorks was a pilot programme for young people aged 16-19 to develop their own work at the Fruitmarket Gallery informed by their exhibition programme. The programme took place two days per week over twelve months and the group were supported to learn new skills and experiment with a range of media, materials and approaches to art making.
The sessions engaged with the ideas each exhibition raised, from philosophical inquiry through the work of Gabriel Orozco to diary making and the archive in the work of Dieter Roth. During the year, the group produced a publication which launched in the Fruitmarket bookshop, produced a film shown within the David Batchelor's Flatlands and made their own exhibition of works at Whitespace Gallery in Edinburgh.
The group were supported to shape what the programme might be following the year and established themselves as the Fresh Fruit programme at the gallery.
