Dematerialisation was a week long collective destruction of and experimentation with a range of materials and objects undertaken with individuals from the photography, sound and visual art department at John Wheatley College. The class was informed by Oskar Holweck's classes in the 1960's, opening up a wider lineage to the term dematerialisation beyond Conceptual Art, looking to new interpretations of the term. The only pre-requisite for the weeks activity was to try to breakdown each material or object as far as we possibly could to nothing, to come up against out limit with it. The remains of anything leftover and individual interpretations of this class were then exhibited at Platform including documentation of the process by those who took part.
