Rhythm (Bedroom): Phrase I, II, III, IV, V was an installation of small sculptural works that made poetic relationships between disparate objects and materials found across interior and exterior domestic spaces. Building its own internal logic as a set of material phrases (applying the idea of a phrase in the musical sense and linguistic sense to matter) the work looked at the capacity for materials to work where words fail, at the limits of written and verbal expression. A clay alphabet was contained and collapsing through a string shopping bag, a packing belt binding handmade sticks, a tool to use for making holes resting on a rock, a belt and a weight painted tight together.
